VoxGen: a Rust + Vulkan TTS engine bringing AMD support to VoxCPM2 without PyTorch

Substantial_Swan_144 · reddit · 2026-09-03

A developer released VoxGen, a lightweight native inference engine for VoxCPM2 text-to-speech written in Rust on Vulkan compute, ditching Python/PyTorch/CUDA entirely. Motivation: most frameworks are NVIDIA-first and stutter badly on AMD cards. It runs buttery smooth on AMD GPUs, ships an aggressive power/speed mode for the RX 7900 XTX, runs from the shell for scripting, and needs only one binary plus two GGUF weights from Hugging Face. A practical non-NVIDIA option for local TTS.
