Claude Code Cowork regression: bash and web_fetch denied instantly with no approval dialog
WaitWut · ghdev · 2026-09-03
- A user reports a regression in Claude Desktop's Cowork mode on Windows: mcpworkspacebash and mcpworkspacewebfetch are instantly denied in every session with no approval dialog, persisting across 10 sessions and restarts since 2026-09-02.
- Each session's system notice says it is "non-interactive", and the author believes the harness fabricates the denial before the sandbox is ever reached.
- Ruled out: no deny rules in settings files, still denied with skip-approvals on, cache clear didn't help, and the Cowork VM is healthy with no related event logs.
- Other tools work fine (file Read/Write/Edit, Chrome tools, computer-use requestaccess shows dialogs), so only the workspace server is affected.
