Anthropic's guide to commerce agents: 35% larger carts, 60% higher purchase completion
ClaudeDevs · x · 2026-09-03
Anthropic published an engineering guide, "A guide to the anatomy of effective commerce agents." Over the past year it worked with retailers, marketplaces, travel, entertainment, and telecom teams to put commerce agents in production, with enterprise customers seeing larger carts and more efficient seller operations. Part 1 covers architecture (Claude in an agent loop with skills, tools, and a strong eval suite); Part 2 covers latency and cost techniques; Part 3 covers production — memory, safety, evals, and scaling across an organization. The accompanying open-source blueprint gets a commerce agent running in days.
