Claude can now use your computer in the background across Cowork and Claude Code
claudeai · x · 2026-09-03
Anthropic announced that Claude's computer use capability now runs in the background in Claude Cowork and Claude Code: assign a task on your desktop and Claude clicks, types, and opens apps like a human while you keep working on something else.
The feature is in beta for Pro and Max plans inside the Claude Desktop app (macOS, with Windows support on the Cowork side). Users who enabled computer use before already have it on; others can enable it under Settings → General → Computer use. Anthropic also published guidance on how it works and how to use it safely.
