Anthropic launches browser tool to detect Claude-made files via C2PA content credentials

Anthropic has launched a "Check if files were made with Claude" tool that detects whether a file was produced or processed by Claude.
- Claude-generated text carries an embedded watermark; generated files attach a cryptographically signed C2PA content credential in their metadata
- The checker runs entirely in the browser (files never leave your device), supports JPG/PNG/GIF/WEBP/MP4/MP3 and more, up to 100MB
- It only reads the credential — it can't tell whether Claude created the content and contains no user info; C2PA is the same open standard used by camera makers, and OpenAI and Google DeepMind offer similar tools
- Text watermark detection is handled by a separate Detection API in private preview for eligible organizations under EU law
