A Reddit user reports that a large chunk of an important long ChatGPT conversation disappeared after a certain point, yet ChatGPT Search still returns snippets of the missing text when searching exact phrases — opening the conversation shows the content is gone.
This suggests OpenAI still retains/indexes the messages somewhere even though the user can't access them. The user didn't delete anything and is asking about recovery options: data export, browser cache, or contacting OpenAI support.
