Cosmos Institute Funds 80 Projects Building AI for Human Autonomy and Truth-Seeking

Cosmos Institute announced its largest grant cohort ever: 80 projects building AI prototypes that support human autonomy or truth-seeking, the latter in partnership with FIRE. Grantees come from 16 countries.
- Projects include wearable AI for memory, cryptographic tools for scientific collaboration, and a benchmark based on pre-1940 thought on machines and autonomy.
- Three tracks: AI for Human Autonomy, AI for Truth-Seeking (with FIRE), and pitches from Oxford's Philosophy x AI seminar.
- Inspired by Tyler Cowen's Emergent Ventures, the program targets projects too fast for traditional funders. Past grantees founded eval nonprofit Sophron Research, launched the learning app Wondering (No. 2 on Product Hunt), and published at ICML, COLM, and IEEE.
