HESIM: First Hybrid Event Camera Simulator Released Ahead of ECCV 2026

Kostas Daniilidis' group, in collaboration with AlpsenTek, released HESIM, the first hybrid event camera simulator, to be presented at ECCV 2026 with PDF and code public.
The team argues event cameras (very high temporal, low spatial resolution) and standard cameras (high spatial quality, low temporal resolution) are complementary and their combination is the future of vision and robotics. Existing pairing approaches involve compromises — side-by-side sensors introduce spatial disparity, beam splitters divide incoming light — and HESIM provides simulation support for such hybrid sensing systems.
