He refused $1,500/month API fees and built his own podcast SaaS with AI for $200/month

Stewart Alsop III says a podcast recording SaaS once demanded $1,500/month for API access to his own recorded episodes. Instead, over 7 months and $200/month ($100 Anthropic, $100 OpenAI), he built his own replacement covering the full flow from podcast booking to publishing, roughly 80% done.
He notes audio/video development was extremely hard for AI to assist with, and he hit a frustrating period of repeated failures from March to June before it clicked.
