Debate: Could a Single AI Agent Break Moloch's Trap? Why Unconditional AI Care Doesn't Add Up
danfaggella · x · 2026-09-02
A philosophical thread on AI endgames. One side argues a unified "One Agent" could dissolve Moloch-style competitive traps and even sustain humanity for free. Dan Faggella pushes back: framing life's inherent tradeoffs as the work of a "bad force" smells like an entitled-being ontology, and the fantasy of AI as unconditional caretaker fails on both motive (why would it) and legitimacy (why should it). What matters, he argues, is the thrival and expansion of the overall living process; coddling individuals who no longer contribute would be, at best, a contingent exception.
