HuggingFace's $399 Microduck Sells Out Instantly, Sparking RL Dev Frenzy
机器之心 · wechat · 2026-09-02
HuggingFace's $399 'Microduck' robot saw instant sales success, moving one unit every 4 seconds and generating over $2.6 million in 24 hours, with shipping delays now extending to 4-6 months. The 25cm, 800g robot features 15 Korean servos and a Rockchip RK3566 chip, equipped with cameras and LiDAR. Its key value lies in the fully open-source software stack and Reinforcement Learning (RL) workflow: developers can train policies in MuJoCo simulators using algorithms like PPO, then deploy them to the physical robot via ONNX for Sim2Real. The community has already created diverse hacks, including backflips, stair climbing, AR control, and LLM integration. Developed by French team Pollen Robotics and manufactured by Seeed Studio in Shenzhen, it is hailed as the 'Raspberry Pi moment' for embodied AI.
