MCP usage surged 98x after protocol went stateless

Agentic AI Foundation reports that MCP usage exploded after shifting to a stateless design in July. Tool calls via OpenAI reached 98x January levels by August. The new design, which includes all necessary context in each request, allows for easier load balancing and capacity scaling, accommodating the rapid enterprise adoption of agents.
