World Labs Releases Atlas: First Multimodal World Model
drfeifei · x · 2026-09-02
World Labs co-founder Justin Johnson released Atlas, the world's first multimodal world model. It generates image and video frames with pixel-perfect camera control and reconstructs them in 3D.
Applications:
- Real-to-Sim-to-Real: Users can take a few photos or videos with a phone; Atlas reconstructs the space, allowing robots to train and interact within this simulated environment.
- In-Context Learning: Combined with a robotics foundation model, the robot can understand and execute a task after just one demonstration.
This technology aims to drastically lower the barrier for robots to adapt to new environments (e.g., studios, specific rooms), enabling rapid deployment in minutes.
