Nvidia Backstop Enables $947M in Bank Loans for GPU Purchases
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-09-02
Bloomberg reports banks offered GMI Cloud NT$30B ($947 mn), more than twice its request, because Nvidia backstops unused GPU capacity. Nvidia will lease any unused capacity at an agreed price for up to 6 years, providing a revenue floor. This financing advantage creates a new hurdle for competing GPU vendors beyond just chip performance.
