Salesforce closes 95-day acquisition of Contentful, aiming at prospects not just customers
shashib · x · 2026-09-02
Salesforce completed its acquisition of headless CMS Contentful on September 1, just 95 days from signing — its third major deal this year. The analysis argues this is a customer-acquisition play rather than a CX one: Contentful (used by 4,800+ brands) will pair with Customer 360 data to personalize content for prospects a customer hasn't won yet. It continues Salesforce's year-long pattern of closing the gap between what companies know about prospects and the experience those prospects see, as the vendor shifts from being one component in a fragmented stack toward a suite that helps customers win new business.
