Perplexity has released pplx-pii-masking, a personally identifiable information (PII) masking model freely available on Hugging Face under an MIT license. Built on Qwen3 (600M parameters) as a token-classification model, it supports English and multilingual text, targets privacy use cases, detects and masks names, addresses and other sensitive info, and can run entirely on-device.
