Explicit Meshes May Be a Better Target Than 3DGS

Keenan Crane adds that while 3DGS is an explicit representation, it primarily serves to reproduce appearance. It doesn't certify that the predicted variables identify a specific, 3D and photometrically consistent object. Thus, he suggests that an explicit mesh might be a better target.
