A mentor shared outcomes from a summer research program: CS grad student Sathvik Manikantan Napa Ugandhar is working with Carl Latkin to build an AI tool that improves screening instruments for mental health, substance use, climate change and social support — aiming to extract more nuance from a survey while reducing clinician time spent collecting it.

Multiple interns will continue their research beyond the summer, which the mentor calls the real measure of success. The program will run again in summer 2027.
