Gary Marcus cites data questioning AI's economic return: Total Factor Productivity (TFP) has risen only 2.45% since ChatGPT's release. In contrast, TFP grew 7.50% in the period following Netscape Navigator's 1994 release, more than 3x the current AI-era pace.
