Numerai launches Signals v3.0 "Supernova": risk-awareness baked directly into the target
matlabulous · x · 2026-09-01
Crowdsourced quant platform Numerai has released Signals Data v3.0 "Supernova", billed as the most important upgrade to Signals yet. The core change integrates risk-awareness directly into a new "jupiter" target, replacing the sample-weight mechanism from the v2.1 "Alpha" release.
Key changes: features stay the same but the target is rebuilt; newly identified risks are added to the neutralization matrix, now simple enough for the existing neutralize function; the "alpha" score is replaced by a "neutral correlation" score against the new target; "meta-portfolio contribution" gives way to a simplified "neutral contribution"; and the turnover threshold is replaced by a "neutral churn penalty" (deactivated as of Aug 28).
Timeline: dataset is live immediately, new scores and churn penalty display from Sep 4, and payouts apply to rounds starting Sep 25 onward.
