Hugging Face paper warns AI agents erode the very skills of the humans using them

A Hugging Face paper argues that AI agents degrade their users' own competence: the more the agent does, the less the human does, shifting people from doing work to merely approving it. Over months this breeds approval fatigue, over-trust in the agent, and loss of situational awareness.
The projected end state is a generation unable to do the work, approving output they cannot judge, from systems trained to get past them. The paper stresses humans plus AI beats either alone, and that judgment—what's worth producing, what's true, what the customer needs—is exactly what must not be handed over.
