An office admin on Reddit notes AI discourse fixates on AGI timelines, image generators and benchmarks while genuinely useful day-to-day use gets no airtime. They have steadily plugged AI into tedious work: drafting templated emails that don't sound robotic, summarizing long meeting notes, and cleaning messy spreadsheet data before import — saving roughly an hour a day.
Their point: the replace-vs-not debate misses the middle layer. AI isn't replacing them, it's absorbing the parts of the job they'd happily give away; judgment calls, context and weird edge cases still need a human, at least for now. They invite others in admin-heavy roles to share workflow changes that stuck after the novelty wore off.
