Instagram Will Demote AI-Generated Influencers Without Labels
5le · x · 2026-09-01
Instagram is introducing a mandatory "AI-generated profile" label for accounts featuring AI-generated personas. Accounts that fail to use this label will face reduced reach.
The platform states this is in response to user feedback about misleading AI profiles. The new, specific label replaces the previous optional "AI creator" tag. This measure targets deceptive AI influencers rather than all AI content. Creators believe they have been wrongfully penalized can appeal via the Account Status dashboard.
