Gemini dissects the 0.5-yuan shared-bike unlock gray market on Xianyu

A user spotted a Xianyu listing offering to scan shared-bike QR codes for customers — 1,800+ orders earning only 900 RMB, which seems barely worth it. The author ran the case through Gemini to unpack the scheme:
- Account pool rotation: 1,800 orders can't come from one account; sellers buy cheap new/student accounts with riding cards in bulk.
- Automation + GPS spoofing: unlocking a bike is just a geo-tagged API call; backend scripts pick a healthy account from the pool and fake the GPS to the buyer's city, dodging per-account risk controls.
- The 1,800 count is cumulative over months, so daily volume is modest.
Why bother? Near-zero marginal labor (RPA handles reply → QR recognition → unlock); the real goal is private-traffic acquisition — a 0.5 RMB order is a cheap hook to pull real paying users into WeChat, then upsell high-margin gray-market offers; and store-matrix scaling across hundreds of listings adds up.
