Call for Papers: Synthetic Populations Research at Frontiers in AI

frederickaplan · x · 2026-09-01

Research on synthetic populations has been active for over 30 years and is now more critical than ever. It is now possible to build large populations of artificial individuals whose distributions, interactions, and dynamics reproduce real societies, allowing for the testing of public-health policies and energy interventions. The challenge lies in turning plausible simulations into trustworthy scientific instruments, requiring attention to calibration, validation, fairness, and privacy. A Research Topic on Synthetic Populations is open for submission at Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence.
