A researcher recalled that Anthropic's paper on emotion steering vectors actually used words like "hungry" and "tired" to generate the vectors.
He noted that claiming Claude gets "functionally hungry" wouldn't have had the same allure as claiming it gets "functionally frustrated," highlighting the public's preference for certain anthropomorphic narratives regarding AI.
