ASI could remix existing tech tree into trillions of inventions by the 2030s, author predicts
Dr_Singularity · x · 2026-09-01
The author argues one of the most important AI breakthroughs will be AI that invents entirely new technologies. Text, images, video, music, code, games are just the beginning — prompting ASI could yield hundreds of unique ideas for technologies and devices by combining and remixing everything humanity already knows.
Even with scientific knowledge frozen at September 2026, the existing tech tree's mixing potential is enormous — potentially trillions of useful combinations. Add automated science progressing 1000x faster: every discovery creates new branches combinable with all prior ones, growing the search space by orders of magnitude. The number of possible inventions eventually looks effectively infinite from a human perspective; the author expects such AI by the 2030s.
