Martin J. Wainwright published a paper proposing Interaction Growth Complexity (IGC), a path-based measure of data geometry to characterize the sampling performance of product-reference discrete diffusion algorithms. The paper shows that a bivariate IGC kernel provides an exact representation of KL discretization error and analyzes how stepsize choices affect iteration complexity. It also demonstrates that specific reference distributions can reshape the IGC profile and reduce sampling complexity.
