Galbot's ET1 humanoid robot is being trained to play tennis against humans. It demonstrates the ability to track the ball, predict its trajectory, position itself, coordinate its body, return shots, and recover—all autonomously.
Tennis serves as a brutal test for robotics due to the speed of the ball, changing angles, and timing. The robot must react in fractions of a second while maintaining balance. This demo highlights real-time perception, prediction, motion planning, and whole-body control under pressure.
The consumer use case is clear: a practice partner that never gets tired. It offers adjustable difficulty, repetition of specific shots, and consistent training, making the prospect of robot training partners feel much closer than expected.
