- Platform blocks: LinkedIn returns 999 or empty data to GPT/Claude bots; Instagram/TikTok disallow via robots.txt.
- Paid API failures: Services like Apollo, PDL, and Clado are either inaccessible or return empty results; only Exa worked.
- Conclusion: Agents currently cannot reliably fetch profile data without guessing. The author suggests a 'boring' solution: users publish a stable, public, machine-readable profile page to serve as the ground truth.
