Fudan proposes Life Operators for multi-scale life modeling
量子位 · wechat · 2026-09-01
Fudan University's Wang Shuo and HKUST's Guo Yike propose the "Life Operators" framework to solve multi-scale life modeling challenges. The framework treats life as an open, stochastic dynamical system, defining three core operators:
- Perception Operator: Infers system state from observations like imaging and records.
- Evolution Operator: Simulates future disease progression or intervention effects.
- Generation Operator: Generates observable clinical results from system states.
A "Scale Bridge" connects models across cells, tissues, and organs into an assembleable LifeOperatorGraph. The system features an evidence-driven self-evolution mechanism. The team's prior work in Nature series journals (EndoKED, RenalCLIP, MeshHeart) underpins the tech. The framework has been spun out into the "Cardio-World" project for cardiac cross-scale computing and virtual clinical trials, aiming for full iteration by late 2026.
