Linux kernel adds USB-C direct networking for Apple Silicon Macs

AIFlow_ML · x · 2026-09-01

A patch enabling direct USB-C networking between Apple Silicon Macs and DGX Spark has been merged into the mainline Linux kernel. It fixes the CDC NCM driver binding issue for Mac-specific VID:PID 0x05ac:0x1905. This simplifies heterogeneous local AI setups, such as P/D disaggregation, allowing high-speed connectivity over a standard USB-C cable without complex network configuration.
