Apple alleges former engineer used AI agent to run proprietary circuit designs

Apple claims in a new filing that former engineer Chang Liu used confidential circuit designs within an OpenAI AI workflow. Apple states that Liu downloaded power-converter schematics after leaving and used an AI agent to run LTspice simulations on a Mac mini. The agent reportedly learned to inspect results and tune compensation parameters, reducing the workflow from a day to two hours. Apple argues this presents a distinct AI risk as proprietary information becomes harder to trace or remove once learned by an agent. The filing clarifies this does not allege OpenAI trained model weights on Apple's data.
