Dev Questions Value of Subagents: High Cost, Unclear Gains

Developer zeeg argues that subagents might not be the low-hanging fruit many assume. While using multiple agents for different tasks and compaction-style behavior, he finds the added value of multi-agent setups often unnecessary and expensive ($$$). He contends that for most work, especially coding agents, you don't need subagents: while they save context and improve fanout, coordinated work often sucks, and adversarial verification is likely handled elsewhere.
