LangChain adds support for MCP spec with MCPAdapter primitive
LangChain · x · 2026-09-01
LangChain is rolling out support for the new MCP spec via a new langchain.mcp primitive. The new MCPAdapter can wrap server specs or FastMCP clients to build LangChain-style tools from MCP tools. The update also supports "elicitation" via LangChain's interrupt primitive. An alpha version (langchain==1.4.0a2) is available for testing.
