Gemini Notebook 'Expert Intelligence' Imports Owned eBooks as Cited Sources
stevenbjohnson · x · 2026-08-31
Google launched 'Expert Intelligence' in Gemini Notebook, allowing users to import owned ebooks from Google Play Books as grounded sources. This enables users to ask questions about the books and receive answers with page citations. Over 100,000 titles are available at launch, including catalogs from Penguin Random House, Macmillan, O'Reilly, and Bloomsbury.
The feature's utility lies in integrating professional books with personal documents like invoices, call transcripts, and SOPs. Use cases include checking invoice rates against a pricing book's rules or evaluating sales calls against a methodology text using the book as a reference.
