Nvidia Bets $3.5B on MediaTek to Counter Big Tech's Custom AI Chips
RebeccaBellan · x · 2026-08-31
Nvidia is investing $3.5 billion into MediaTek. As part of the deal, MediaTek will adopt Nvidia's technology to design custom AI chips that plug directly into Nvidia-based data centers. This strategy aims to counter the trend of hyperscalers like Amazon and Google building their own silicon, allowing Nvidia to maintain its infrastructure dominance even as customers develop custom chips.
