Barron talk Part 4: 3D models are questionable for movies but vital for games, because games re-use compute
jon_barron · x · 2026-08-31
Part 4 of Jon Barron's talk splits the value of 3D by media interactivity: for passive media (movies), explicit 3D models have questionable value; for interactive media (games), 3D has tremendous value because 3D assets re-use compute at runtime instead of regenerating frame by frame. He also shares somewhat stale speed and energy numbers for Veo 2 and asks for someone to crunch them for a newer model.
