Bun WebView API Test: Agent-Built Service Uses 100MB RAM
JeremyCMorgan · x · 2026-08-31
Simon Willison used an AI agent to build a shot-scraper-style JSON API using Bun 1.4's new WebView feature and measured its memory usage under cgroups. Tests show that a full Chrome instance for complex pages requires 192-256MB RAM, while JavaScript-only execution needs as little as 56MB. This dependency-free approach demonstrates the feasibility of lightweight browser automation.
