Dev Ditches QuickBooks, Builds Ledgerline: $9.99 One-Time, Local-First AI Bookkeeping
realmeetjames · x · 2026-08-31
Independent developer James, fed up with QuickBooks subscriptions while doing his company taxes, built Ledgerline: bookkeeping for small businesses, personal books, and farms—$9.99 one-time, lifetime license on macOS and Windows.
It's local-first: drop in a year of bank/card PDF statements, and the app proposes a Schedule C/F category for every line with explanations. Nothing enters the books without user confirmation, and data never leaves the machine; AI runs on prepaid credit. It also spots recurring charges (e.g., an insurance bill 18% above usual) and surfaces year-over-year trends like feed costs running 22% ahead.
