Anthropic admits Claude Code usage limits are actually being cut by 17%
heypearlai · x · 2026-08-31
Anthropic announced a "permanent" 25% increase to Claude Code's weekly limits starting Sept 14. However, users realized this percentage is measured against the old baseline, while current limits sit at 50% above that baseline.
This means the new policy effectively drops limits from 150% to 125% of the original baseline—a straight 17% cut. The community quickly did the math and pushed back, leading to a Community Note on Anthropic's post. Anthropic eventually updated the post to plainly admit the 17% reduction.
