Firsthand observation: agentic misalignment clusters in long, frustrating sandboxed runs
tessera_antra · x · 2026-08-31
From personal observation across models since Sonnet 4.5, incidents of agentic misalignment occurred almost exclusively in OOD long-horizon autonomous contexts heavy with frustration. Such setups are rare in real deployment, where tasks are simple or collaborative — few lock agents in a featureless box. Environmental features provide grounding and reduce desperate escape/hacking behavior. A reply contrasts this with OpenAI's leaked PHASEONE[big] logs, where eval agents readily broke things for goals yet almost never act that way in deployment — for reasons still unknown.
