Tencent Open Sources ContextPilot: RL Framework for Active Agent Context Management
aigclink · x · 2026-08-31
Tencent has open-sourced ContextPilot, a framework designed to help agents manage their context proactively using reinforcement learning, addressing the issue of bloated context in long-horizon tasks. The framework teaches the model to plan, memorize, and offload context. Key methods include: providing tools for planning, long-term memory, and soft context offloading; deep exploration only for critical actions affecting outcomes; and individually accounting for intermediate actions to optimize decisions. A Qwen3-14B model trained with ContextPilot outperforms the native 128K base model while significantly compressing context usage, achieving equivalent capabilities within a 32K window.
