Claude Desktop hides extended thinking due to update bug

Users reported that Opus 4.6 in the Claude Code desktop app sometimes answers instantly without the "thinking" block, seemingly at random.
Investigation Findings:
- Checking session l files reveals that thinking blocks exist for every turn, with valid encrypted signatures and token counts, proving the model is reasoning.
- The issue stems from a desktop app update: the CLI is now launched with the --thinking-display flag omitted, so the app discards the reasoning text.
- Older builds showed summarized thinking by default. The mode can flip mid-session, explaining the randomness.
Conclusion: The model is still performing extended thinking; the display layer just fails to render it. Many complaints about "adaptive thinking getting worse" are likely due to this bug.
