Danielle Fong pushes back against critics of anthropomorphizing AI. She argues that those who don't use AI much often admonish it, but reasoning about the AI from its own perspective is actually necessary for doing great work with them. Since LLMs are built from seeded human language, using the best language we have to explain them is not an overclaim, but rather a reflection of reader skill.
