Carnot & Abacus: Enterprise Agent Query Systems with Cost Optimization
lateinteraction · x · 2026-08-31
To address the error-proneness and high cost of agents naively querying enterprise data lakes, researchers presented two systems:
Carnot:
- Provides interpretable, interactive, and optimized execution of agentic search queries.
- Compiles natural language queries into optimized computation graphs.
- Features a notebook interface for inspecting intermediate outputs and steering the agent back on track upon errors.
- Includes cost management by predicting operation costs and selecting cost-efficient options.
Abacus:
- Also works towards steerable and cost-efficient execution structures for agents.
