Google Cloud adds spend caps to Gemini Enterprise, pausing agents mid-task
shashib · x · 2026-08-31
Google Cloud has updated billing and budget controls for Gemini Enterprise.
Key Updates:
- Pay-as-you-go & Spend Caps: Introduced a pay-as-you-go tier and project-level spend caps. Once a cap is hit, an agent's requests are automatically paused immediately.
- Resumption: Admins can resume billing with one click or opt into overages. However, it is not documented how a paused agent handles the task it was mid-loop on.
- Flexible Savings Plans: New commitment discounts offer 10% off for one-year and 20% off for three-year commitments, with no min/max spend requirements.
- Quota Pooling: Quotas for Google Antigravity and Android Studio AI now draw from the same subscription, pooled at the project level rather than assigned by seat.
