SemiAnalysis: DeepSeek kernel code is AI-optimized assembly

SemiAnalysis analyst Jordan Nanos revealed that engineers scrolling through DeepSeek's MLA kernel code could not understand it line by line, but it didn't matter because the AI had optimized it to achieve hardware roofline performance. The code, written in Gluon on top of Triton, is described as essentially AI-generated assembly that performs efficiently despite its opaque structure.
