Study: Amazon flooded with AI books crowding out human authors
TuhinChakr · x · 2026-08-31
A new study using full-text AI detection from Pangram analyzed self-published genre fiction on Amazon from 2023 to March 2026. It finds that the platform is flooded with books containing substantial AI text, which are earning significant revenue and crowding out sales of non-AI books. The authors argue that AI content's success relies on obscurity and that human review cannot scale to filter it, leading to content mode collapse.
