MIT study: Hundreds of AI agents spontaneously specialize without direct communication
Malor777 · reddit · 2026-08-30
MIT researchers placed hundreds of identical AI agents in a simulated world. Results showed that these agents spontaneously differentiated into explorers, builders, caretakers, and coordinators without direct communication. They even invented technologies without talking to each other. This research demonstrates emergent behavior and specialization in multi-agent systems.
